Does the outer membrane of gram negative bacteria have highly antigenic lipopolysaccharides?

Yes, the LPS has repeating carbohydrate motifs that are recognized by the immune system.  These different sequence motifs allow for the identification of specific serotypes within each speices, of which there are many for each gram negative bacteria.  The antigenicity of the LPS is not the real concern though.  LPS can cause life-threatening conditions such as DIC that have nothing to do with antigenicity.
