Does the package gets open when it gets inside the US before it reaches the receivers hands?

I received a package from Venezuela, some stuffs were lost but I found some things that not belongs to my package.

Can I claim on local postal office? Is possible recover some items?

It should never be opened or tampered with in any way, you can't claim for lost items unless the package was insured by the sender, even then you should state apon delivery that the it has been opened before you actually open it.

That has never happened to me. I've sent and received. Never had they been opened. When a package is sent, you are suppose to write the contents on a paper and adhere it to the box itself.
