  1. Yes, they have a pretty good running back in Maroney.  The Colts were looking at possibly picking him up that year, but the Patriots had an earlier pick in the draft and picked Maroney just so the Colts couldn't get him.  With Maroney taken, the Colts took Addai.  However, I think the Colts may have put Maroney's name out there so the guy they really wanted wouldn't get taken, Addai.  I've heard that was the case a couple times.  There were three stand out running back rookies that year: Reggie Bush, Laurence Maroney, and Joseph Addai.  They were ranked from first to third in that order.  However, the best producer as far as yards and scoring has been Addai followed by Maroney, then Bush.  Just the opposite of what everyone thought.

One thing to keep in mind is this:

How good or how bad a running back is in large part due to the offensive line.  The team needs to have a good offensive line in order to open up holes for the running back to run through.  Edgerrin James went from one of the top running backs in the NFL to the worst in one year after switching to Arizona.  He didn't become that bad in one year because he lost talent.  It was due to the offensive line not opening up holes.  I think the same might be said of Reggie Bush when comparing him to Addai. Addai is good, but Indy has a more seasoned offensive line than New Orleans does.  The Patriots also have a more experienced O-line than New Orleans.

  2. Maroney is very dangerous.

  3. Looks like many of the answers above me must have come from Patriot haters. Maroney, although still a young running back, is arguably a top-notch RB. Kevin Faulk, the back up, although not at all an every down running back, has been around for a long time and knows how to win. He is also a very good third down back. Sammy Moris and Lement Jordan are also on the roster and both have shown great potential.

So, in all reality, on a scale of one to ten, the Pats RBs are at least a four if not a three or two!

  4. Maroney okay not great i could name more then to rb better then him.

  5. they dont have any good RBs

  6. I have to laugh at the people who say that the Pats don't have good RBs. They obviously only watch sportscenter.  HATE the Pats, but thats as far from the truth as you can get.

Maroney has shown that he's one of the best backs in the league. He's on the same level as Marion Barber, but doesn't get the carries. Then they have Jordan and Morris, both former starters now playing a backup role. They have Faulk who is an all around threat, and proved to be one of the best 3rd down backs in the league.

That Offense is dangerous, top to bottom.

Again, I hate the Pats. I hate their arrogance, their fans, and their cheating.

  7. Okay, REal Bosotn born and bred Sports Pats fan answer: Mauroney SUCkS - Sure he adds some FLASH, but hes not that good, or strong or powerful..he's simply used in a timely manner to the offensive production during each play. our backs suck.  LaMont Jordan is powerful, but slow as h**l.

Heath Evans is better than both. Sammy Morris is better than both, Kevin Faulk is more productive than..and none are starters...As a PAts fan, Im worried cuz, everyone here gets happy and used to winning, that they dont pay attention to the fact that, yes, we are largely dependant on the chemistry between or offensive line and brady...who I KNOW are selective about Protection with QBs.. (same one that won in 01? screwed Bledsoe's ribs on that play)

Our running backs suck, and belichick knows this, but believes in BRady leadership and knowledge of the system...He's a genius yes, but yes, hes also arrogant to a degree...a small one.

  8. They do have a good rb in Laurence Maroney who's been in the league for only two seasons, going into his third, here are his career stats:

    Rushing yards:  1,580

    Average:  4.4

    Rushing Touchdowns: 12

    Receptions: 26

    Receiving yards: 10

    Receiving Touchdowns:   1

  9. On a one to ten...One being Sproles and Ten being LT I'd say about a 6 or 7.

  10. THEY HAVE SUCH A MIXTURE OF RB'S NONE OF THEM REALLY STANDOUT!

  11. no they don't have a good running back...the only reason their offense is so good is cause their passing...if they relied on the run they'd be an average team
