like movies, CDs, or games. My husband does not want me to use the playstation because it supposedly downloads movies, games, cds, etc.. Whenever you insert it he says he has to figure out how to make it not do that sounds like BS to me but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt

  1. no.  he's blowing smoke up you know where.  to demonstrate your superior knowledge, you should tell him that he'll be better off streaming the music, pictures, and videos from his computer via a router.  that way he can save the very limited space on his ps3 for game saves, demos and other game files.

  2. CD's don't automatical copy to the hard drive when you put the CD in you can just play it off the disc or choose to rip the cd to your hard drive. The same is with movies you just put them in and play. With movies you can't copy to the hard drive it'd break copyright laws.

Certain ps3 games though do take up room on the hard drive. Some games i believe give you the option to do this for faster loading times. Whereas others like Gran Turismo 5 prologue and Grand Theft Auto 4 require an installation to play. Also if your play games online and a patch releases you need to get that patch before you can play online again. I have something like 12 Giga Bytes on my hard drive that is game data that i need to have.

Other than that it won't install to the hard drive and if you are running out of room on the hard drive you can buy a bigger one. Any 2.5 inch SATA laptop hard drive should work with it. Just ask the company your buying off for confirmation...Hope This Has Helped

  3. The PS3 does not install all games to the hard drive.  Some games, however do require an install, but that's very rare and it will ask you if you want to install.  And even if you install, you only have to do it once, so it doesn't take up more space every time you put in the disk.  Also, for movies, the PS3 just plays them, it doesn't save them to the hard disk.  For some movies, you have an option to save them on the hard disk but that's only if you want to.  You have to manually select the option to save, it doesn't do it automatically.  Most DVD movies don't allow you to save anyway.  So, what he's saying is probably BS, but then again he might believe that it happens.

  4. It will download certain games, but will always prompt you and ask if you want to.

This is not the case for movies, cds, etc.

Sad thing is it doesnt tell you how much space it will take(GT5 took about an hour)

  5. No You have to copy them by clicking triangle on the cd then clicking on copy.
