yes....it actually up grades them....and if you have it hook with component or HDMI it will look super......not like a blu-ray...but believe me...you wont regret it....

Yes, but not only does it play, it also upconverts, given it dosen't look all to great upconverted, when you see the difference between it upconverting, and it playing in 480p, the difference is night and day, and when you look at a DVD upconverted, even though it dosen't look that great, you will be glad it is upconverted though, DVDs playing in 480p on the PS3 look horrible
