Does the popular crowd and stuff like that go away after high school?

I used to be popular at my old high school but then when I went to a new school (a larger public school), I am so unpopular and this has let me reflect on how mean I used to be. I want it to stop, but anyway, I'm going into my senior year in 2 weeks and my cousin told me that after high school, popularity goes away and people focus on their grades. Is this true for anyone in college?

  1. Yeah, pretty much, popularity fades. People just don't really care. People want to get their lives together and not get caught up in the old high school games. Honestly, being a twenty seven year old man, I know what I am talking about. I haven't seen my best friend from high school in almost nine years. While I was at college, it just didn't matter if you were popular or not. Either you had friends or you didn't. Just do good in your last year of high school, try to get your grade point average up as high as you can, and treat people with kindness and respect. That's all that matters in the end of the day. Life begins after high school, not during. And popularity aint that great. It's almost like a false reality in a way. Just be a good person, get out of school, be a good person, and don't worry.

  2. Yeah, Everyone is just friends in College. Everybody mature's... Its nice to not have "cliques". Everybody gets treated the same.

  3. I hope so because I would think by college people are more mature than in high school so they would focus more on grades.

  4. as you grow up no one cares who is or isn't popular. just make friend who gives a rats *** what most people think. just keep your self in perspective, make sure to be happy with your self.

  5. Yes, it "goes away," because colleges are bigger and people have very different interests by that time. The scientists enjoy each others' company and so do the jocks, and there are enough of each to keep them all happy. But, also, popularity in college is not the thing it is in high school. People are looking to become functioning adults by that time and popularity has nothing to do with that.

We all want to be liked by other people, and if we're kind we will be liked. You're on the right track to think about not being mean.

  6. my brother is in college. hes a basketball player on scholar ship. i mean there are still some kids that everyone knows, but its so much bigger, and people are more mature. basically your just friends with your group of friends. everyone talks to each other, geeks or treated as equals. although still, if you are friends with the really geeky people, they probably wont want to party or anything, and thats part of college experience.

  7. Usually, people mature after getting out of high school.

College kids stop focusing at popularity and stuff

And besides in college there are so many different types of people and there are way more students.
