I want to send a 5"x5"x7" item and I don't have a cardboard box to send it in. I want to send it as normal mail, not priority or anything. If I go to my post office, will they have a cardboard box for me to buy? and how much does it cost?

  1. yes they do and the tape and the packing material

  2. you can send priority mail at flat rate, no charge for the box, they come in 3 sizes.  I use them often and save a bundle sending stuff to Calif.

  3. Is this UK or US mail we are talking about?

UK post offices do sell mailing boxes but they are expensive.

Staples and Office World both sell a wide range of packaging at much more economical prices. However, you could also do what I do for my ebay business and ask all your friends and family for cardboard cartons.

For US, I am sure you could find a similar outlet to buy your packaging. There are also some sellers on ebay.

Just put a note in and tell your customers that you are being 'green' and recycling all your packaging.

Alternatively, you could use a larger box and cut it down to size.

  4. yes

  5. Most of the time, Priority Mail is a few cents more than Parcel Post -- and they'll GIVE you the box for it.  You'll probably come out cheaper with Priority Mail.
