does the queen deserve to be so lauded and respected globally; to have a whole anthem sung to her; to have huge amounts of money? is her ceremonial contribution to the country and to our society worth the expense to the taxpayer- does she deserve the money over people who are struggling to make a living and put food on the table... if they can even afford a table?

  1. She does deserve immense respect and a national anthem which I put my hand on my heart for, but all that money no...because there are still homeless people around.

  2. I think it is hard to answer this question unless you explain what you mean by "deserve".

None of us did anything to "deserve" to be born of our parents

  3. If you were my age, then you would know that the answer is yes.  I can't even be bothered to explain why because people like you will always go on whinging about her.

  4. YES. And god save the Queen. Treason is still punishable by beheading, bare that in mind.

  5. In a word, No

  6. Yes, God Save the Queen and long may she reign! And plus the only reason people ever go to the UK is for the monarchy, I mean the weather is not what draws them!

  7. yes she does

  8. Not just the queen the whole of monarchy.

  9. If you believe in Karma she does , if she could do more good with her wealth etc to make her  more deserving, is another question.

  10. no.  Either she gets a reality check or pension her off

  11. NO

  12. Just about every day I sit back and am grateful that W is only a president, and not a king.

You are lucky to have her.

  13. Her vast amounts of money and property is obscene when there are kids here in the UK who live in poverty,,Al Fayed does more for the kids here than  her Majesty,,all the royals should be ashamed of themselves,,but they're not,,they love all the money and power,,freeloaders

  14. If you are asking did she earn her place as a royal then no--no one really does, as we don't choose the people to whom we are born.  Still, if my ancestors help develop a country, I would want entitlement, too.  If you think about it, it is no different with the descendents of founders of companies (e.g.,Walmart, Martha Stewart, the Ford family, etc.): I would certainly want my children, grandchildren, and future generations to have some rights to a fortune I created.  Notice, however, I said SOME rights.   I don't think that anyone in a position of power or authority should be paid outrageously while his or her country should be left to struggle.

  15. Everyone deserves to be respected but personally I don't believe that we should have a monarchy and a government.  The amount of money which the queen receives is vulgar and I do not believe that it is comparable with the contribution she makes.  When Windsor Castle fell victim to fire, the tax-payers were expected to meet the cost of the damage, which is the final insult.  The monarchy has no idea what it is like in the real world because they are pampered and protected from it.
