Does she ever leave the nest?

And another thing: If the nest is located in a dangerous place for the bees, is it possible to move it to a safer place?

  1. Sometimes a queen will lay a queen egg, and when the new queen matures one of them will leave to establish a new hive, followed by a swarm of workers.  Other times a queen will simply abandon a hive and establish a new one, followed by all the workers.

Commercial beekeepers move hives regularly, but the hives are custom built for this.  One might be able to move a "wild" hive, but you would need to be amply protected from all the workers who perceive the hive to be under attack.  The queen may well abandon the hive if moved.

  2. queen bee can leave the nest in some extreme cases
