Does the recipient for a western union transfer need to know your phone number?

It is not required that they know your phone number, but there is a place on the form they fill out requesting it.

When someone goes to pick up a Western Union they will need to know the name of the person who sent them the money and what city and state the money is coming from. Then they have to fill out their own information (name, address, phone number, etc.) and they have to have a photo ID unless the sender attached a question to the transfer.
