They can never get enough of seeing who's got the biggest yacht, car, home, what ever. Can't this be seen as a way of compensationg for some other lack in the "Size" department?

  1. At that point no, because then in order to be successful you've have to "be lacking" in "that area".

I think it's just society, everyone has to outdo the jones' or the smiths'

  2. It's not just men...women are in some ways the same.  Yes, it's about who has the best (insert object here.).  We're a culture obsessed with who has what, and what we lack.  It's fun to speculate that men who own big cars, trucks, boats, houses, whatever, are making up for lacking in "size", but I believe the reality is, they're making up for what they're lacking in self-esteem.

  3. Probably not, that is just what us poor folks want to think to make ourselves feel better. I would rather be rich and hung like a gerbel than poor and hung like a horse. How about you?

  4. I you have ever been in a Yacht race, there isn't anything more exhilarating.

And if you have the money, you buy expensive toys.

Having more then the neighbor is a human thing on all levels of income, its called ambition and greed.

  5. Yes, yes it does.

  6. Matching their egos. Maybe they are trying to up for their appendage size, with their ego.

  7. No. It means he has money and likes to spend it.
