my apartment complex has roaches. they do spray all apartments but i still see roaches maybe once a week, sometimes twice a week. i guess thats not to terrible, it can be worse.

i had boric acid in my previous apartments and it worked like a charm but i am in a high rise apartment now with more units and have to wonder if boric acid will still be a good alternative.

I keep my place very clean, i never leave trash or food out yet i still see a roach once or twice a week

  1. Purchase yourself some Maxforce roach bait gel!!! Best stuff on the market. Every one roach that eats it, will kill 40 more. Just make sure you do not use it where other pesticides have been sprayed or the roach will not eat it. Common places to use Maxforce are the insides of cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom.

My father works for a pest control company and has actually found roach nests INSIDE of those plug-in roach repellers.

  2. OK, First the electronic pest control devices other than some for birds DO NOT WORK.I have tested several and the best kept mice away for about 2.5 days then ceased to "bother" them.Roaches will nest in them without affect.I am a licensed pest controller and one of my most memorable moments is removing a mouse nest from underneath a plugged in electronic device!! The maxforce answer below is the best but oversimplyfied in that there are some considerations:

1)Where the roaches are beside your apartment needs to be addressed or all you can do is control them not eliminate them.

2)You said your complex is "sprayed" this may indicate an incorrect technique (also outdated) for treating roaches.Baits and growth regulators are the pest chemical control along with sanitation.

3)READ THE LABEL and follow it 100% on any pesticide you use.Fipronil ,the active ingredient in some Maxforce formulations, can cause seizures in cats if ingested or transfered through the skin etc., growth regulators can irritate pet skin/fur causing scratching and so on.

4)Boric acid works great but rarely will eliminate a population unless applied everywhere the roaches are and travel.Gel Baits like Maxforce are low dose and typically require a tube or less to work.It can also later be scraped and removed if chemicals are an issue to you ,BUT see #1.

5)Last but not least . One gravid (pregnant) female roach= over 30 nymphs (babies). By the way in her ca. 200 day life cycle she can produce 4 to 6 egg cases (6 cases=180+ babies in 200 days by just one female)

    Hope this helps
