Does the staples center in la have metal detecters for concerts for cameras and stuff?

It depends on what they have. Was there a few months ago and everyone had a camera (just point and shoot cameras though--nothing like a dSLR was allowed). The ushers checked the bags and yes, they have a metal detectors (you're in downtown LA after all)--and nothing sneaks by.

Call them ahead of time and ask if that particular day the cameras are allowed. Don't bring the super-telephoto in--or they'll turn you away.
