Does the trade for Artest make the Rockets the best team in the West?

I personally think he's the missing piece to the puzzle. With Yao and T-Mac as well, this team is a CAN'T MISS for the finals. What you think?

  1. All the rest tryin 2 be the best in this west but only we got the man with 24 on the chest! LAKERS

  2. what is it with all these people? the rockets get artest and suddenly theyre the best in the west? this isnt the same as getting allen and garnett. artest is no superstar. the rockets have improved no doubt but theyre still not as good as the lakers and maybe not even as good as the jazz or hornets either.

  3. Alston-Brooks-Francis

    Tracy-Barry-Head-Francis

    Artest-Battier-Tracy-Barry

    Scola-Landry-Dorsey-Hayes-Artest

    Yao-Dorsey-Hayes

No this team is hard to beat

  4. man ive seen so many people jump on the bandwagon now next thing you know people saying they been fans since the dream and clyde played..u can see all my answers and question and see ive always been a rockets fan but as a long time rockets watcher never miss any games they did need some toughness and this trade will definatly make them a lot better i too think he is the missing piece to the puzzle but idk about best in the west tmac always seems to be hurt but i hope this does make them the best team in the west

  5. There's always the element of injury for the Rockets. Somehow, they can't get their best players to stay healthy for an adequate period of time.   Also, Artest is not the defensive demon that he was four or five years ago.

  6. No. T-Mac and Yao will get hurt as always. Artest has too many off the court troubles. They still have to get past the Lakers, Hornets, and Spurs. I don't think so. They were so high in the standing last year because of that win streak, which they will not do again this year. I actually think they will not do as good as last year because they will not have another win streak like that. Trust me though, T-Mac and Yao will not play all 82 games.

the only people that gave me thumbs down are the ignorant rocket fans that refuse to believe that their team will not win a title. if they think t-mac and yao will play all 82 games they do not deserve to call themselves a basketball fan. ignorance. give me a thumbs down if your an ignorant rockets fan.

  7. no the lakers still on top if u look at their line up

    its

    derek fisher

    kobe bryant

    lamar odom

    paul gasol

    andew bydum

    thats hard 2 beat

  8. Yeah, they're definitely the best in the west now.

  9. We haven't seen them play yet. Maybe Artest won't get along with the other players. Also, the Mavs and Suns have new coaches and they might play well. Sorry, but being a Knick fan for awhile has turned me into a pessimist. On paper, I think they are the best in the West. There's depth, star power, offense, defense. But this is only on paper, we have to wait and see.

  10. lakers or hornets. hornets just picked up posey. and the rockets had there winning streak yeah but there really not even that good.

  11. not even close

  12. PORTLAND!PORTLAND!PORTLAND!

Roy is a MONSTER!!Finally Get To Move Aldridge To His Natural Position. Add An Almost Guaranteed Perenial All-Star in Greg Oden at Center. Upgrade the SF Position By Adding Rudy Fernandez. PG Battle Between Sergio Rodriguez nd Jerryd Bayless. Deep Bench W/ Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, Joel Pryzbilla, Von Wafer, Channing Frye, One Of The Point Guards, Steve Blake, nd Ike Diougu

MARK MY WORDS. PORTLAND IS THE FUTURE!!!!

  13. To be 100% Honest, I think this makes the Houston Rockets the Best team in the Western Conference.I mean the Rockets won 22 games in a row and 55 in the entire season...all without Yao ming. Now add Yao Ming and Ron Artest to the exact same team last year and...wow. However, this is all on paper and we are just specualating. On Paper, you are looking at the 2008-2009 NBA Champion. We will have to see how this all works out unfortunantely. I think that the best team to compare them to is the LA Lakers considering that they won the Western Conference last year.

          Lakers                              Rockets                  Winner

Pg-Derek Fisher                   Rafer Alston      -        Tie

Sg-Kobe Bryant                    Tracy McGrady   -    Lakers

Sf-Lamar Odom                    Shane Battier   -      Rockets

Pf-Pau Gasol                         Ron Artest       -          Tie

C-Lamar Odom                     Yao Ming         -       Rockets

I believe that the PG position could go either way, and I believe that if healthy only T-Mac, Lebron and D-Wade can say that they are in the same league as Kobe. I think that the PF spot is a toss up, however, remember that the rockets have Luis Scola off the bench. I do beleive that if this Rockets team is healthy, then they will be a huge pick as the 2008-2009 NBA Champions, and T-Mac will finally get past the 1st round..

  14. Too early to tell. Too many things can happen... injuries, other trades, locker room issues.

Not too long ago, 2007 Bulls were crowned East conference favorites with the Ben Wallace trade. It didn't work out that way when Big Ben's arrival disrupted the young team's chemistry and offense.

The wild, wild West is just too tough to assume one team "can't miss" the Finals.

On paper the trade makes Rockets much stronger - a serious contender for #1 spot. Lakers, Hornets, Spurs will be bunched right up there. Suns, Mavs, Jazz not far behind. Playoffs will be more challenging for relatively inexperienced Rockets.

  15. well they have a great starting five, with alston and scola and their bench will be good. they can make a great run in the playoffs as long as yao and tmac can stay healthy. the 2 teams that might give them trouble is the lakers and the hornets. lakers have kobe with bynum coming back, while the hornets finally got a bench with adding posey and pargo coming off the bench. The rockets finally have 2 great perimeter defenders on their team

  16. There is never a clear best team in the west

  17. No. The Lakers are still better.

  18. if t mac and yao both play at least 75 games then probably.. they could b one of the best defensive teams ever next year (they were very good last year wit yao missin 1/2 the year) with battier and artest lockin up the perimeter and yao with his presence they gon b hard to score on
