Does the type of Ice make a difference in soda?

Do different shapes and kinds of Ice matter when you put them in a drink. Has anybody done or know of any studys on ice in drinks which kind melts faster or which is prepered by the majority. Its just a hot day and I got thinking about ice.

  1. Ice is frozen water.  I wasn't aware there was a type.  What I'd like to know is how to make ice cubes clear like you see commercially.


  2. actually crushed ice in a drink will make it colder quicker because of more surface area  

  3. I like the ICE from fast food restaurant. And I like store-bought ice. I hate ice from the refrigerator.

  4. Crushed ice will cool a drink faster. It will also water it down very quickly for the same reason. Regular cubes will cool a drink fast enough and last longer, perfect cubes are better. To keep your soda coldest for longest however, circles would be ideal as their relatively small surface area prevents melting while still providing plenty of cooling. I hate crushed ice because it slips past your lips while drinking and gets swallowed, unless using a straw.
