We have already dug out the sod, leveled it off and added a layer of crushed limestone.

  1. Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

  2. It is best to put a layer of sand down and then the Gorilla floor pad.  However the manufacturer states that you do not have to put sand down first, I would not recomend this.

The sand acts as a barrier between the ground and the pad and helps to protect from any rocks, roots or other hard objects. It also provides some cushioning for the floor of the above ground pool, making it more comfortable underfoot. I recommend always using sand and adding the floor padding for additional protection. It is worth the investment to protect the above ground pool liner as replacing a liner involves both the cost of a new liner, installation and refilling your above ground pool. Typical instructions call for a uniform, 2-inch layer of sand. The sand will also make your life easier when leveling the ground.
