Does the way a company interviews indicate how they treat employees?

I am in the process of interviewing for a job. So far I have had a phone interview, a HR department interview, and a group interview. The HR interview, I was told I would be meeting with a Director of HR. I drove two hours to the interview and found out the "Director" was merely a coporate recruiter.

Then I was told that the group interview was to allow me a chance to meet the the executive team of the company and that it was a very formal event. When I get there, everyone from the company (including the recruiters) are in jeans and polos. Oh, and BTW - they offered us the leftover food from their meetings earlier in the day, this was their definition of "refreshments" as indicated in the e-mail. I never had a chance to actually meet and speak in depth to any of the executives because the interviews were set up with them merely asking me questions off a script. I have actually only spoken to the gentleman who would be my supervisor for five minutes.

So, they tell me that I will be contacted last Monday as they are going to make their final decisions. No call on Monday. No call on Tuesday. Finally, Wednesday I get a call telling me I will have to come to another interview before they make their final decisions.

I just get the idea that this company is not very organized but I don't know if it's the company or perhaps just the HR people. I'm not comfortable with the lack of communication and the way we were treated at the interviews. I'm wondering if this is indicative of the enviroment I would be working in?

How would you read it?

  1. well if your getting mad about THAT then you are definitely not the candidate they should be looking for I mean your attitude alone shows that your picky and use to having everything your way.. i mean you should be great full that these people are even considering you.. the economy here is doing bad as it is, your lucky that they gave you an interview and are hiring you.. don't complain.. i mean feel free to leave that job if you want but I'm going to guaranteed you that its not going to be easy finding another job... especially with an attitude like that.

  2. I think your observation of the company is right. They do not seem to organized or very professional. I do not think I would like to work for a company like that. It was done in very poor taste and unprofessional. I would not want to be connected to a company such as that.
