  1. No because he is the foil everyone wants to ascend to fight.  This will especially be true if he fights and beats Cotto.

  2. The welterweight division has been moving long before Maweather showed up and it will continue to move after he leaves. There are too many other great matchups and potential greats in the division.

With Mayweather still hanging around, he is only hurting himself when it comes to legacy. He's in a division that would just guarantee him a very high ranking in alltime pound-for pound status, if he'd clean the division. Then again, it's clear that he doesn't care about that.... it's only about the money and getting lots of it in the safest way possible. Not only does this hurt his legacy, but passing all this time by waiting for something to develope could eventually cause his title to be stripped due to passing on mandatory challenges.

  3. I think that the division has moved on without him.

There is enough talent at 147 lbs to make the division one of the best in boxing.  These guys are also willing to fight each other.  PBF has not participated in any fight that determines his ranking at 147 lbs......he is concentrating on income.

There is no point for anyone at 147 lbs to wait for a big payday fight against PBF.  He seems unwilling to fight meaningful competition.

His best match-up at 147 lbs is Cotto.  They match up very well size-wise.  PBF does not match up well against the bigger guys......Margarito / Williams.  Neither does Cotto, but at least he has 147 lbs power and a good body attack.

It's too bad that PBF isn't willing to step up to the plate at 147 lbs.......it sure would make things more interesting.  Not to mention it would be good for boxing to have a high profile fighter like PBF bring some attention to a potentially explosive division.

  4. I hope so. I am fan of mayweather but he has only fought 2 welterweights(judah,Baldamir). and since then he has never defended the welterweight crown yet. that is not what a champ does. to refuse fights against number one contenders because of money is horrible. he will probably fight the winner of cotto-margarito later this year or early next year. but i hope he loses. I want to see people who fight every 8 months against real competition and not guys just for a pay check. that is what killed the heavyweight divison, heartless champions. the welter weight doesn't need floyd to be entertaining or successful

  5. i think so and if floyd then wants to fight one of the better fighters ie cotto, margarito then he can. he is in a luxury position i guess where he is p4p and can pick and choose his opponents.
