  1. In a solely democratic government, the will of the mob rules, and they usually throne the biggest thug...usually with bloodshed...

in our government, which is a democracy within a republic, our thugs are brought to power in a civil manner...

actually, it's a very interesting process, with lots of checks and balances, one of them being the electoral vote...

I think we have the best system invented yet...we just need to all be more active in getting involved...then we could truly say we played a part in getting our thug of choice elected...

I love politics!  It's the politicians during the campaign yrs that drive me nuts...lol

  6. No, that is just feel good rhetoric.  In fact in almost every 'democratic government' it is the will of the rich that rules the roost because they have the ability to get the poor to vote for the things that they want, by promises and such.  Sad but that is the way that it usually works out in real life.

  7. no, the powerful elite and the special interest groups are always equally as powerful as the people. Add the corporate owned media to confuse the population and they are more powerful than the people.

In India, the only truly democratic nation in the world, their parliament  had erupted into an all-out brawl a couple of years ago. Here in the U.S., we are given the liberty of governing ourselves keeping the intentions of the law and the Constitution in the highest regard.
