Does the xbox 360 have a upgraded dvd system?

i have no hd dvd system or a hd tv but i was watching the condemed the other day and the visuals were pretty good and looked better than on a normal dvd player does it have a upgraded system?

It has a progressive scan dvd player meaning that if you hook it up using the component (red, blue, green) cables, It will display as 480p (progressive) as opposed to 480i (interlaced) which is what standard dvd players display.
