  1. with all due respect to other answerers, this was not a tragic accident. He yelled "move because I wont slow down" or words to that effect. He knew he would hit her and he could have avoided that-but he didn't.

People need to learn that our actions have consequences. He may not have meant to kill her, but he did, and as such he should be in prison.

  2. i think he is a fine outstanding example of the example adults are setting for todays youth,,,of course its better to ride on the pavements and in pedestrian precincts,,there is much less traffic there,,,

i have recently stepped out of a shop as an adult on a bike was crossing the doorway at close on 20mph(didnt give a d**n who he may hit)and yesterday while walking on a footpath saw an 18yrs old youth riding towards me,fully expecting me to get out of his way,,,he was very surprised when i didnt and grabbed his handlebars and he fell on the pavement, cursing,i see these pillowcases(can i say that?)every day and it gets more so each day,,its time the police and CSO,s put some brakes on this bike culture,

a charge of causing death by dangerous driving, would have been more appropriate or even under the vagrancy act,,The wanton furious reckless driving of a carriage,,,,both carry heavier penalties than £2,200 hope this pr*tt can sleep at night,,but of course the courts can only deal with charge the police lay before them..a little more thought from the police would not have gone amiss in this case,

as for feta smurf and my michelle,,ACCIDENTS DONT JUST HAPPEN,THEY ARE CAUSED,even the police have come to realise this,,formerly a Road Traffic Accident has been retitled Road Traffic Collision check out timesonline

  3. No....it is a tragic accident.  True he should have not been speeding...but I don't think he meant to take anyone's life.  It is sad that someone lost their life....and as the parent of a 16 year old daughter...I would be angry...but more angry at the situation than the man.  Its a lose - lose situation.

**B.....d of the year goes to the uncle who kidnapped his 12 year old neice....to initiate her into a s*x ring, and murdered her.  Then buried her body. He also was having s*x with her cousin who was 9 when it started, and he got her to help him lure the 12 year old to his house.  This man...yes I would spit, and yes...alot worse.

  4. your so right, he looks a smarmy b@stard aswell, he should have been jailed because by his own admission he could have missed her, I would beat him to a pulp.

  5. yes.

  6. I've never heard of anything like that.

I'd do more than spit on him!

  7. Since the cyclist has shouted out, that means it was purely an accident and the cyclist had nothing to control his bike as there was some mechanical fault.

Let thing go and live with it!!

  8. I find the behaviour of some cyclists lethal.  Where I live huge grown men and yobs thrash down pavements with impunity and if you don't get out of the way God help you.  I have never seen a policeman or CSO deal with them.

The law should be clear and enforced.  No cycling on pavements - unless you are a toddler supervised by an adult.

Surely to goodness pavements should be for pedestrians - it is bad enough negotiating mobility scooters driven by selfish elderly people, and mothers that use their pushchairs as battering rams.  What are pedestrians supposed to do - fly?

As for the creep in question, he should have definitely been charged with manslaughter.  He may not have meant to kill this poor girl, but he did nothing to avoid hitting her.  He is directly responsible for her death.  Her family have tried the lawful channels to get justice for their dead daughter, now it is time to deal with this brute themselves.  If it were a member of my family I would.  He would not be cycling around town much longer.

  9. It's sickening and I could not begin to imagine if that was my daughter! The arrogant cocky tw@t should have been given time with those who would knock the massive chip from his revolting shoulders.........

  10. Just like drink drivers, hit run drivers & speeding drivers. The law is far to lenient. I would of said at least 15 years. For drink driving 15 years. For hit & run 25years. For speeding a year.

  11. Yes I quite agree he doesnt sound a very nice sort. Still I am wondering if he will still like cycling now. He is very vulnerable on a bike especially when it doesnt comply with traffic laws. No reflectors on pedals!

Just think what he would be like in a car.

It is not all cyclists and all car drivers. It is some  people who r like this.

  12. Arrogant little sh*t!  What I would like to see happen is lock him up and throw the key away till the cell lock goes rusty!

I've lost count of the near accidents I've had with cyclists - on the pavement and also out driving: They dress in what resembles a condom with a plastic "tadpole" on their head; a*se in conjunction with the planet Jupiter; thrashing up the inside of traffic line (sometimes when I am sitting on the legal 30mph limit) Flying out of junctions and across your bows as you turn left.  I am all for fitness, carbon footprints, minimising fossil fuels etc but these inconsiderate, arrogant psychopathic little pr*cks seriously annoy me.  The energy and heat their bodies produce while travelling at the speeds they do, cause as much pollution as some cars.

  13. how the h**l is anyone calling this an 'accident' ??? his intention was clear 'get out the way 'cos i am not stopping' is CLEAR intent.. what did he imagine would happen???? that the girl would bruise her knees??? omg...... if i was that poor girls parent, and i had to suffer seeing that arrogant b@stard around town, i would get my horse and set him at a full speed gallop, with the words of warning 'get out the way cos i CAN'T stop' ... whats the worse that could happen?? he could wobble of his stupid bike???? ...yeah and hopefully under the hooves of my horse.. who i would make dance on his head...

yeah he is a arrogant tw@t and that was no accident!!! i would call it murder.

  14. what a complete b*****d.  What was the scum doing, riding his bike on the pavement?  I hope someone beats the living daylights out of him

  15. i think if i saw him whilst driving i would aim for him whilst leaning out of the window shouting "get out the way i'm not stopping"

  16. I heard this on the news driving to work this morning.. didn't realise he was a bicyclist - thought he was on a motorbike. I've never heard of something like this either...

Manslaughter should really be the punishment for reckless behaviour, whether you're holding a sharp pencil, riding a bicycle or behind the wheel of a car.

I will say though that those bicycles are made so you can't take your feet out of the pedal straps. You have to physically stop and unstrap your feet. He could have fallen over himself though, or used brakes (?).

Yes it's an accident, but it's a reckless accident.
