Does this Republican voter have a point after he watched Palin's speech?

Bill Stapp: "I have tended to vote conservatively all my life. But this time, I have to vote on the record President Bush has handed to my children. As a Republican, he didn't raise taxes, he raised the national deficit and national debt. He didn't reduce government spending, it went wild. He didn't shrink government payrolls, he expanded them and went out to subcontract even more employees.

Bring back his father. I'll take the higher taxes any day. And if his father won't run… I'll vote for Senator Obama and let him raise taxes on the wealthy."

Can REAL Republicans be appreciated now?

  1. Sounds like a whiney RINO to me.

Seriouisly, that guy should be kicked out of the Party.

  2. For the last seven years Republicans have run the house and the Dem's just got it in Jan 2007, its take a while to fix a mess.

"A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have Democrats have been in charge of the House and Senate"

  3. this guy is reasonable

    not all Republicans are

they don't realize low taxes are just raising the deficit and eventually be left to break the backs of the next generation

but boy those republicans love hearing about low taxes

  4. We need a return of Rockefeller Republicans.

  5. I know. I found Sarah Palin's lies filled speech last night especially offensive because she claims Obama want to increase government. After  Bush, this is IMPOSSIBLE. The Republicans are shameful liars and hate-spewing dividers in this country.

  6. Yes we have to move past party loyalty and vote for the good of the country.  Vote Democratic 2008.

  7. What rock did Bill Stapp crawl out from under?  McCain and Palin are true reformers.  They're not Bush ... they're not Dubya.  This argument ain't gonna fly.  The Dems are in deep doo-doo.

  8. Bush has been a lame duck and rendered that way by a do nothing congress. Put this in perspective, as a business owner, we are only as good as our employees. In construction disgruntled workers lead to poor quality and thus bad product, it is the same in every industry. Tick off the guy at Burger King and he'll spit in your food. This congress has stagnated this country to suit their own goals, bad product.

  9. no conservative wants that element of bush.  he led an outright war against fiscal conservatives, and he as much said so when he said to rush limbaugh "we dont need the conservative base."  But like it or not McCain is not bush, in fact he has been the anti-bush darling of the press for the last 8 years.

as a republican can you stomach the vast social programs that barak wants to institute?  the services he wants nationalize?  how about the dismantling of our military?  any REAL republican would never vote for barak.  maybe mccain.  maybe bob barr.  but never ever for barak.

  10. He is not a real Republican.

And Bush, both of them, have faults.

We need to reduce government, not raise taxes.  Reduce government, reduce costs, pay off the debt, then lower taxes and keep the government out of my life as much as possible.  There's a true conservative point for you!

  12. No

  13. Im voting Obama...

Repubicans just run our country into the ground, a little more each day.

  14. Your logic is flawed.  Voting for Obama to "raise taxes on the wealthy" lies in the face of the fact that raising taxes on any one demographic raises them on everyone.

Even Obama concedes that we bring in more money with lower taxes than with high ones.  See below:

  15. I don't know who Bill Stapp is but his description is accurate historically.  Now, after reading all the GOPers responses here, we can add another Bush characteristic: refusal to acknowledge any mistakes made. The Dems got control in 2006, six years too late.

Yes you real GOP members can be appreciated.  Please work on your party to find a real GOP leader like Teddy Roosevelt.

  16. That is why they are also called "REPORKLICANS'.

I find this fantasy about GOP fiscal responsibility to be quite laughable!

If we truly let free markets control everything, the 'board of directors' here needs to be handed their asses.

  17. Sounds like a RINO to me.

  18. Ok...lets look at this logically.  We raise taxes on the wealthy and buisnesses..what happens?  Lets see...these are the people who provide jobs, energy, and food to "everyday Americans"  Do you HONESTLY believe that Higher taxes on the wealthy will not cause your paycheck to be less, or your food and gas to cost more?  Come on people...think logically here.  There has to be another way...and so far, only the GOP have any plan of realistic action.

Let the thumbs down begain.  But I'm right, no matter who disagrees with me...:D

  19. Wow, a really sensible Republican. The GOP is no longer the party of sensible spending. It is the party of excess and greed.

McBush//Palin will just continue Dubya's policies. She took a town which was debt free when she became mayor and left it $22 million in the red. ( ooh shades of Dubya and TX)

Reqested $27 million in earmarks for a town of less than 9,000 people .Was a cheerleader for runaway spending and had been a supporter for the bridge to nowhere until it became a laughing stock, then changed her mind.

This will not be change, just more of the same.

I cannot survive more of the same unless I win the freaking lottery.

  20. No.And he never was a Republican if he said that. Where did you here that MSNBC!!!

  21. McCain is old ain't he?

  22. Who's Bill Stapp?  He sounds lost to me.

  23. The reason the national debt is out of control is because the government is picking up the tab on WAAAAAY to much stuff.  High taxes or low taxes is irrelevant...the key to getting the deficit under control is to cut federal spending.

But then again, cutting federal spending means way less pork and handouts...which is how we buy votes.

"Ask not what your country can do for you..."  Sad, no one talks like that anymore. :(

  24. He's either a Democrat or a Republican who was tricked into tasting the koolaid.

  25. Yes he has a point

I just don't agree with it and facts don't support it

  26. This is one of the smartest things I've heard all morning.

  27. You know, there are many people in this country that think past party lines and they are the true Americans.  They know that people come before politics...as it should be.

There's a saying that says if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Dammit, it's broke.

  28. Obama's wife Michele's salary nearly tripled in 2005 -- the same year he was sworn in to the U.S. Senate and began earmarking funds for her employer.

Senator Obama was paid more than $100,000 for legal work -- then helped his client's company get $320,000 in taxpayer grants.

Obama speaks of the days when his family was making $240,000 per year as if he had been suffering poverty -- while, just last March, he voted to raise your taxes if you make over $32,500 per year.

    There is more.

  29. I agree 100 % .

  30. I think many level-headed Republicans will be voting for Obama.

The ones who won't are the crazy, feeding frenzy crowd that I saw last night.

  31. That just shows how short-sighted you are.  Tax the wealthy, huh?  You mean the ones that PROVIDE the jobs for the rest of us?  You mean the ones who take a risk and start businesses to help our economy?  You mean the ones who stick their necks out there and develop alternative energy products to help our nation?  Tax the wealthy is the most idiotic idea...  the "wealthy" will reward your idiocy with providing LESS jobs, LESS businesses, and LESS work toward alternative energy.
