When you're on the bus or subway with a lot of stuff i.e. groceries, bags, etc. and someone passes perfectly empty seats and waits until YOU move your stuff and put it on your lap. I know it's appropriate when the bus is crowded. But why do people do this when it's not. It doesn't make any sense to me.

  1. I don't take the bus when I have groceries; I call a cab and consider it part of the price.

  2. If there are other seats available like you said, it doesn't make sense.  I don't see why they would want to inconvenience you if they don't have to.  If there are no other seats around, then I think you should move your bags.

  3. Why do the groceries need a seat?  It may seem rude, but the bags didn't pay for a seat.  It's courteous to not have the bags on the seat not the other way around.
