Question:

Does this book publisher sound like a scam?

I sent in my manuscript to a book publisher, hoping to get it published. The wrote back and said they loved it, and would like to publish.

The only catch-- I have to send them $3000 in 2 installments, and then they'll send me 150 copies for me to distrubute. They would also keep 150 copies and distribute them on their end.

Does this sound legit, or does it sound like a scam?

  1. Scam, a real publisher wouldn't ask for any money.

  2. I wouldn't do it.  3000 dollars and YOU have to distribute them! Isn't that their job?  Don't do it.  I don't know.  What every you feel you should do, but I wouldn't.

  3. not really, allot of little guys are doing that so they don't loose money! good luck!

  4. While it might not be a scam, it seems fairly expensive.   Basically, what they're asking you to do is self-publish the book.  I think you can find a better deal for self-publishing.  From the site below:  Now you can walk into a "POD" (Publish On Demand) specialist with a manuscript on disk and emerge an hour or two later with a hundred copies of your book for an outlay of around $1000.

If I were you I'd try other publishers.
