Question:

Does this bother other moms as much as it bothers me?

I'm seeing McDonald's advertised as "healthy" food now! Since when is fast food healthy? Does this strike any other of you moms as odd? If so, does it bother you that they are now advertising their food as healthy?

I personally want to boycott all of their food. It's greasy and unhealthy. The only things that are remotely healthy are the salads and those are hardly as fresh as they make them out to be.

  1. Well I have to admit, I love McDonald's! But I don't eat it very often, b/c it isn't healthy at all!  They mark it as healthy so that people will still want to buy it. what really makes me mad is the fact that my 2 yr. old knows what McDonald's is! They have a commercial for it every other min.. Every time we pass the place, she wants to go! The thing is I really think she has only ate there maybe 3 times ever! It is just becoming ridiculous!

  2. subway isn't really that healthy either considering all the fats and nitrates and preservatives that are used in lunch meats and the condiments...i guess it's the way you perceive things.  we all know that mcd's isn't healthy, and most people really don't go there for the salads or apple snacks...as always, it is our responsibility to sift through the world and decipher the truth for our kids...and if we want healthy food for them make it ourselves!  i wish healthy food could be as easy as ordering a #2!

  3. You want to boycott them?  Then do it!  I never go to McDonald's.  To tell you the truth, I never eat fast food, so I plan to stick with that when my baby is born.

Did you know that a meal at most fast food restaurants runs around 2000 calories.  That's what you need in a whole day!

  4. Not really, when we go to macd's I have no intention of eating healthily....but I only eat junkfood once every 6 weeks (as will my kids) so it doesn't matter.

  5. It doesn't bother me so much because the people who do actually care about eating healthy know what a load of c**p their ads are. Even their salads aren't as healthy as they make them out to be. Order a bacon ranch salad and put a piece of crispy chicken on it and you have a whole lot of calories. Anyone who believes McDonalds has healthy food are the people who really don't pay that much attention anyway. Sadly many people in today's society do not care if their food is healthy or not. Which is why McDonald's is a multi-billion dollar corporation.

  6. We don't eat out often because it makes us sick to our stomachs every time.  I would much rather grab a sandwich at a deli sandwich shop and pay more for it than $0.99 for a heart attack on a bun.

Edit:  Hahaha! My husband and I were talking about the Olympics commercial the other night.  I said see honey, all I need to to get get her six pack abs is to pack in some chicken sandwiches from McYuckys.  HA!

  7. Subway!  They know me by first name there, LOL

What about Burger King?  They just came out with Apple fries instead of regular fries and they come with a lowfat caramel sauce??? Oh, and another option there is Mac and Cheese!

I don't get it - Fast food is exactly that fast food aka junk.  If you want your child to eat healthy, stay out of the fast food places.

I think these places are just adding this stuff to their menu to make themselves look good.  I still think all their food is unhealthy!!!!!!!!

  8. Subway really isn't a whole lot better....I had a friend who worked there.....Trust me, I'd eat at a local natural food deli or something like that if you truly want FRESH and HEALTHY.

  9. We do very little fast food in my house although I have to say that once in awhile I do get a terrible craving for McDonald's french fries! I also doubt that most Olympic athletes do much fast food. Their body fat is probably zero!

What advertisement is ever honest? They are trying to sell something and most will say and do whatever it takes to do so. The ones that bother me the most is when they take a 17 year old girl to sell wrinkle cream!

    ********OMG......she is so adorable.....beautiful!*****

  10. actually they have added a few items that are truly healthy, their salads for instance, in particular the asian salad has (as i remember) a very good nutritional profile. they have also added some apples slices, which are decent (if you don't use the sugary dipping sauce).  also, egg mcmuffins for breakfast have always been pretty decent nutritionally, if you consider alternatives like donuts or worse--not eating at all.  so in general I agree with you and most of their stuff is c**p and makes you feel terrible about an hour after eating, but they have made some changes.  given the fact that McDonald's is everywhere, these choices can be helpful in a pinch.  But overall, and usually, yeah they're c**p.  Fries, big macs all that---still c**p.

  11. Or Quizno's! They are yummy healthy too.

The day McD's is healthy is the day pigs fly. They just cut out some of the fat they had in it and are just gross. Personally I wouldn't fall for their "healthy" bs advertising.

  12. I agree and the McDonald's salads are very over priced and not of great quality! But McDonald's has been around forever and probably will always be!

  13. McD's advertises healthy foods now because it's gotten a lot healthier. Happy Meals used to be a cheeseburger, fries, and soda. Now it's white meat chicken nuggets, 2% milk, and sliced apples. Granted, the chicken nuggets are still deep fried and the apples are pre-sliced and pre-packaged, but it's a lot healthier than it used to be. Subway's subs still have disgusting lunch meat and whole milk cheese.... They're probably about the same nutritional level, to be honest with you.

By the way, I'm not bashing Subway. I LOVE Subway (just not bologna, salami, and turkey lunchmeats). They have veggie subs, grilled chicken subs, etc. I'm just pointing out that they probably have close to the same amount of fat now.
