1-cheerleading experience

2-gymnastics exper.

3-dance exper.

4-why do you want to be a cheerleader

5-what do you have to bring to this program

6-how to keep academic and cheer focus?

7-activities participated in to prepare for cheering

1) I don’t have any cheer experience except for recreational cheer. I participated in the Frost Cheer Club where I learned many chants and cheers, along with correct motion placement. Also, in my tumbling lessons, Coach Cooper, along with his daughter Taylor , worked with me on jumps, motions, and chants.

2) I’ve taken tumbling lessons with Coach Cooper, but I haven’t had any specific gymnastics experience.

3) I’ve taken ballet and tap classes for a couple years when I was younger.

4) I want to be a WHS cheerleader because I love tumbling, learning new jumps and stunts, showing school spirit, and be a leader at my school!

5) I don’t have a lot of experience, but I’ve been told that I have a strong stage presence and I am a very fast learner. I think my personality will bring a lot to the cheer program. I’m not the best cheerleader, but I’m very passionate and a very hard worker--when I want something, I set my mind to it and I never give up.

6) In all my free time, I will study and work on homework. I’m a very hard worker and I’m very concerned about my grades, so I won’t neglect my homework or studying. Schoolwork comes before cheerleading, but that doesn’t mean I won’t give me all at cheer practices. I’ll schedule my time so that I’ll study right when I get home so I can be focused for cheer practice and won’t have to stay up all night to study so I can be energized for school the next day.

7) As said before, I participated in the Cheer Club at Frost where I learned a lot, I took private tumbling lessons this summer from Coach Cooper which prepared me for tryouts, I’ve been to the gym almost every morning this summer to build muscles for stunting, and I worked with my cousin who is captain of her varsity squad. My cousin also helped prepare me for tryouts by teaching me motions and helping me improve my jump height.

  1. it all looks good except i would change part 5 where you say im not the best cheerleader it just doesnt belong it wouldnt affect whether or not you make the team it just isnt good to say that good luck!

  2. 1) Good

    2) Give details on what tumbling skills you have. Be honest but don't put yourself down either.

    3) Fine

    4) Amend it to say "I want to be a leader at my school"  because right now it reads, "I want to be a WHS cheerleader because I love...be a leader at my school" which doesn't make sense. If there is anything you can think of there, such as serving your community or doing charity work (assuming the team does these things) then add that in as well.

    5) Don't focus on any shortcomings. Rewrite this as, "I’ve been told that I have a strong stage presence and I think my (positive, energetic, outgoing??) personality will bring a lot to the cheer program. Also, I am a very fast learner. I’m very passionate and a very hard worker--when I want something, I set my mind to it and I never give up."

    6)  You say the same thing over and over here. Tighten it up . And don't say you'll use all your free time for homework. That's not healthy and also not likely a promise you can keep. In fact, just use this part here as your entire answer: "I’m a very hard worker and I’m very concerned about my grades, so I won’t neglect my homework or studying. Schoolwork comes before cheerleading, but that doesn’t mean I won’t give mY all at cheer practices." Mention games, pep rallies, other performances besides the practices.

    7) Good. This really shows your dedication.

    Good luck!!

  3. i think you should explain more why you want to be a cheerleader because it is the shortest but probably most important question! other than that i like your application because it shows how hard you are working and that making the team is important to you so you are putting work into it!
