Hello, A week ago i canceled the Collision insurance on my car, Yesterday apparently the Neighborhood kids decided to hit my car with a metal stick, Quite a few times. Their only like 4 and 5 Years Old. Would this count as a Collision? What would be the best route to get this fixed. Have not reported it to Insurance yet, Nor have i had it appraised, I could guess at least 500 In damage. My Collision Deductible was 250.00

  1. this is a comprehensive loss.

If you know who the kdis are, their homeowner's policy would provide liability for your vehicle damages. talk to the kids parents and see how they want to handle it.

When my son was litltle he was bouncing a golf ball and it hit the back glass of a lexus.  My homeowners took care of all of it.

  2. This type of damage is called comprehensive.  It is like covering vandalism.  Report the damage to your ins.co. and see what they say.

  3. Well, what a lovely child...  That would, fortunately, fall under Comprehensive.  Collision covers you for damages sustained to your car after you hit something or if someone hits your car and either has no insurance or leaves the scene.  Comprehensive covers fire, theft, vandalism (which your situation clearly is), glass breakage, hitting an animal, tree falling on your car, hail... etc, etc... anything that is beyond your control.  I would get an appraisal before you call it in because if the damage is under your comprehensive deductible, it would not even be worth calling it in.

    Hope this helps... good luck!

  4. This is comprehensive.

    Step 1: get it appraised.

Step 2: call your insurance and tell them about it. Ask what your coverage is and whether or not it will affect your rates. If its $500 in damage and you have a $250 deductible, then it isn't worth fililng a claim if your insurance rates are going to go up.

Step 3: decide how to proceed.

  5. It would be comprehensive.  I would talk to their parents about it and see if they will pay.  If not, get a police report and turn it in through insurance.  It will be subject to your deductible though.

  6. It is not collision, it would be comprehensive (vandalism) but usually, a police report must be filed or the insurance may not pay,  Call your insurance, they will tell you how to proceed.  Have you asked the parents to pay for their children's damage?

  7. I would think that is under comprehensive, since it doesn't involve the vehicle hitting something. Either way, collision and comprehensive go hand in hand. You usually don't have one without the other, and since you canceled collision you'll have to pay out of pocket. Err, the neighbor's kids parents pocket.

  8. That is vandalism, and it is covered by comprehensive.  Hopefully you didn't cancel that, too.

  9. its comprehensive not collesion.

Talk to the pernts ans ask them to make restitution

  10. No, comprehensive.
