my scientific question is: "Which paper airplane design has the longest hang time?"

if it has a control what is it?

the control is a test in which the independent variable is kept constant in order to measure changes in the dependent variable.

  1. There is no control

  2. Well you sorta answered your own question there. Normally your control is something you leave alone and do nothing to do, and later compare to see if the control subject is better or worse then your experimention.

In this example: a paper airplane. i suppose you could use a control group, if you kept the basic folding the same and made slight modification that didnt completely change the control. Folding two completely diffrent types would not be a reflection on the control, but would be more of a comparison.

The term control could be used in this , if you used varies thickness of paper, or folded the wing tips up, or bent the nose down and so on.

Otherwise by just folding many types of paper airplanes in completely diffrent shapes it would be a comparsion type:A glides longer then type B: you could then form a hypothesis as to why that glider type is better. longer wings, blunt nosed and other observation.

    hope it helped.
