Does this have a deeper meaning?

When a man lies, he murders some part of the world

These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives

All this I cannot bear to witness any longer

Cannot The Kingdom of Salvation take me home?

I know it's on Cliff Burton ( previous bassist for metallica) gravestone. Also its the final line of the spoken part in the song To Live Is To Die off of the album And Justice For All album.

For some strange reason I feel it might be out of the bible or something. :/

Any ideas what it might mean or if it is in the bible?

  1. I take it to mean this: When a man lies, he is untrue to himself and others. In part destroying trust between humanity, and you cannot love fully without trust. And so men lie to themselves to feel better about this fake existence, therefore a "pale death", as compared to a real death, or the death of a life truly lived. It is easy for people to despair after this realization and long to be part of a world that no longer contains life and its lies (Kingdom of Salvation).

I hope that helped and didn't confuse. Don't know if it is in the bible.

In chapter 20 of the book that bears his name, Jeremiah complained to God:

O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me. (20:7)
