I was talking to a friend of mine's little girl the other day. I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she replied, "I want to be President!" Both of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there. So then I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give houses to all the homeless people."

"Wow - what a worthy goal." I told her, "You don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where this homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward a new house."

Since she is only 6, she thought that over for a few seconds. While her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

And I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her folks still aren't talking to me.

  1. you embarrass yourself. no democrat advocates just giving houses away. democrats want to spend money to implement programs that help disadvantaged people help themselves. what do you suppose we do? quarantine them? euthanize them?

  2. All your story proved is that a 6 year old is smarter than you

  3. Like you would hire a homeless guy to do your yard work.

We don't think the government should 'solve people's problems'. We believe the government should be in the business of living up to our constitution to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. While this includes many of the things you believe in, it also includes caring for the general welfare of our citizens....so that they too may live with the same tranquility that you enjoy.

There is NOTHING tranquil about serving your country and fighting for this great nation of ours, only to return home to less than adequate care, less than adequate funding, and less than adequate social programs. 1 in 4 of our homeless are veterans. 64% of our welfare recipiants are children. I am not willing that Veterans and children be turned away b/c of your political leanings.

Not every issue is a 'joke' and not every issue is black and white....there are far too many gray areas and far too many people who MUST rely on social programs in order to survive. I am all for people who are ABLE to work. I am NOT for taking away the necessary programs that put food into a hungry child's mouth and pays for the necessary drugs for a man who gave his life for my freedom.

  4. I think your vision of the Republican and Liberal mindsets are a little skewed.

The Republicans wouldn't even think of having a homeless person do the work.  They think they're dangerous, they'd rob the house, tie up and beat the owner and rape the children.

The Liberal would have no problem with having the homeless man work for his food if he were able.  However, if he was a legless veteran, it would be apparent that he's not able to do the work, so he'd be supported.

  5. lol, well done.

They're just angry because you exposed their failed liberal policies, otherwise they could do more than just insult you.

  6. Interesting. The Republican in this story a) engages in political debate with a six year old [and arguably loses] b) advocates child labor and c) suggests that 50 dollars might be enough to help a homeless guy purchase a house.

Well I don't know what the "difference" is here, since a 6 year old probably hasn't developed a real ideology yet, but sure, that can be a profile of a Republican. Sounds more like a Libertarian to me though.

  7. What?  That Republicans would prefer to go to child labor instead of employing what is probably a former member of the military; and despite being screwed up in a war that Republicans sent him into, will not be receiving any help after the fact because we need to save money for future wars.

Is that the difference you were trying to get across?
