  1. Another method you can use to see if you're ovulating is charting your temps. Google "BBT" and you'll find lots of sites about it.

OPK's can be expensive, esp. with a long cycle like yours, and they are not foolproof. Temps will tell you a lot more about what is happening with your body, and if you get to the point that you have to seek medical intervention, your doctor can use your charts to see what's happening with you.

    Good luck

  2. I would use the kits, I bought them this month and I am so glad I did. I am on a regular 27 day cycle and I realized that I am ovulating about 11 days into my cycle this month. I got the positive LH surge on day 9. I get mine at earlypregnancytest.com. You can get 25 opk test and 10 hpt for 21 bucks they are way cheaper than the stores. I started testing 3 days after my period which lasted almost 5 days and got the positive the next day.

  3. You could absolutely be ovulating fine. Long and irregular periods don't mean you're not ovulating, just as 28-day regular cycles don't mean you are!

You'll either get 7 or 10 tests in an OPK, so with a long cycle this could work out expensive. Therefore, I would suggest two things. First, Google 'EWCM' and learn to identify it. It's nature's free OPK :)  Second, try the OPK strips which are cheaper than the sticks. You can get them at early-pregnancy-tests.com; they have super fast free shipping in discreet packaging.
