I sent out an email to employees of the companyy i work for, i did it from an anymous email address, The email simply stated my opinion on some issues in reply to an email that someone else sent out. My manager traced the IP address of the email and called me up suggestiong i find other empolyment, I was told im not being fied but what exactly does this person mean? Do i have a leg to stand on? Were they actually able to tell by my IP addres that the email came from my house? Any replies would be much appreciated.

  1. Yes, you can trace an IP address.  They were saying in a nice way for you to find another job because if you choose to stay at your current one your life will be made a living h**l.


  2. Yeah, basically you got fired.  Some companies don't like to "fire" people because it's more expensive for them to "fire" you (paperwork, etc....I don't really know exactly) then for you to just quit.  Quitting would be a lot better for your resume anyway.

Sounds like this is your boss's way of saying that they aren't going to fire you but are calling for your resignation.  If you choose not to resign they may end up firing you for whatever reason they can find,.... coming in late, making personal phone calls, overuse of company internet or whatever.  The bosses can also create a hostile air for you while you continue to work to try and force you to decide to leave.
