I am 27 weeks pregnant and I was just wondering my baby moves a lot at night and in my sleep but not during the day. With my first pregnancy the moves where even all day and when she was born she was able to sleep at night.Does this mean that this baby will sleep in the day and not in the night?

  1. yes, both my babies where night kickers and its taken me some time to get both of them on a sleep at night scedule

mom of 2 year old and 9 mo

  2. Well, I can't say for certain, but . . . my first daughter was very active in the womb at night, enough to wake me from my sleep regularly, and she was definitely a night waker.

My second was active more in the day while in the womb and came out that way.

That's only my personal experience, I can't say its anything more than coincidence!

  3. all three of my babies were more active at night or evening time, i was told that it doesn't signal the babies sleeping habits (and found it to be true #1 slept very well #2 not so well and #3 is only a week old didn't really know yet) my OB said that during the day when we are more active our movements rock the baby to sleep in a sense so at night they are more active because we are less active :)

  4. it's possible you'll just have to reverse that baby's sleeping habits a lot of people say it's wrong to have to keep a baby up most of the day to he/she will sleep at night for your convience i personally think there's nothing wrong with it. it happened to my sister, my nephew moved around all night and the 1st couple of nights he slept all day and was awake at night so she just reversed him kept him up from 5pm-7pm everyday for 3 days and he switched himself to sleeping at night he would sleep from 7pm-midnight wake up eat then go back to sleep from 1am-6am

  5. It is really uncommon for a newborn to come home from the hospital sleeping through the night.  In fact if they aren't waking up to eat every 3-4 hours you should be waking them up to feed them.  Don't be in too big of a hurry to cut out the night feedings, they help the baby grow and stay healthy in the first few months of life.

But to answer you question, If your baby is a night owl now, it might take a little longer to get her internal clock 'set' to yours.

  6. You are busy and active all day and either or both of these options are happening, your baby is moving and you don't notice it because you are busy, and/or, you and moving and this movement rocks your baby to sleep in the womb.  your baby will most likely sleep more at night after he/she is born, don't worry, but don't expect alot of sleep anyways.
