Power Outage

No warning came

no alerts announced

awakened to abnormal

outage of power.

Light switch flicked

no immediate relief

to morning's strange

darkened dawn.

Sun risen, indeed,

my eyes so confirm

no comforting light

warms my soul.

Ah, answer made clear

problem isn't with eyes

high water rising

short-circuited my

heart, 'tis power source

that's dead.
