Does this qualify as heavy cream?

according to this website: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-heavy-cream.htm

heavy cream is whipping cream with a fat content between 36 and 40 percent but i have whipping cream that has a fat content of 35.5 percent does it still count as heavy cream?

and if it doesn't can i use it in place of heavy cream?

  1. I think it's okay to use the cream you have.


  2. I would imagine the difference to be too minute to matter, especially if the dish you are attempting to make is not terribly large.  You figure 1/2 a percent of a product that is, say, 8 oz, is so incredibly minor.

  3. Yeah, I've actually used half-and-half in place of heavy cream in some recipes.But don't use it to make whipped cream.
