Question:

Does this seem like a package deal only?

I received a packet of information in the mail for a wedding. I want to do an hor d'oeurve/cocktail type reception. In the packet, it states you can get 8 different hor d'oeurves for $7/person. It does not say "in addition to dinner" or anything in the fine print. I viewed their regular menu and they only have appetizers that are priced higher and by the plate... not bulk, as this menu seems to be. My question is this: do you think that is a standard price for hor d'oeurves, or does it seem like a "special" that is included for the sit down dinner that they are expecting to prepare? I'd like to get only hor d'oeurves but I reallly dont think theyd give it to me at $7/person for 250 people...

Heres the website for the place Im talking about http://elmotorlodge.com/diningMenu.php

  1. The place looks very nice, Just appetizers is a nice idea for an after noon wedding, if that is what you are planning. But if it is at night I would go with a meal. And as far as the price you;ll, have to ask them, That is a lot of appetizers for 250 people It would probably  cost less for a dinner or lunch. This really all depends on what you are willing to pay for and your menu.  I'm sorry. To answer your question , No dinner would be extra.that price is for appitzers along with your dinner, That is how I'm understaning it.

  2. Why don't you call them and talk with them, Dearie?  How are we supposed to know?  We can only guess.  My guess is that people do anything for money.  I am sure this little motor in would be glad to accomodate you somehow, but you must give them a call and discuss your needs and desires with THEM, not US.  We are not the management.

  3. Hi. You've already asked this question.  My answer is still the same.

~ It all sounds good, and the price is very reasonable at $7/person, but there are a few things to consider.

~ First off.....that is A LOT of people to feed!

~ Second: what TIME is your reception?

IF you are thinking of doing hors d'oeuvres instead of dinner (and this is the dinner hour), you may find yourself spending almost as much for the food. (This is what we were told for my son's wedding anyway). The reason is.....people will really fill their plates with lots because they are really hungry! So, you may need to order many

hors d'oeuvre platters and make sure that they are kept filled.

~ Would these hors d'oeuvres be at "stations" or "passed." An hors d'oeuvres reception is perfectly acceptable and I have given that idea to many on here, but I don't think it should replace a dinner. You CAN get by with hors d'oeuvres if this is going to be a mid-day reception....say from 1-5 or something....or very late in the evening (after the dinner time)....say after 8 p.m.

Just some things to think about. Call your reception venue and ask them! See if others have done this and how it went over with their guests.

YES, in answer to your question, I think that the $7 is IN ADDITION to the dinner price.  They are not going to serve unlimited amounts of hors d'oeuvres to 250 guests all night at $7/each.

So....my answer is the same....you need to CALL THEM and ask!  That is the only way to find out for sure.  But, I am seriously doubting that you can get unlimited appetizers all night for $7/pp.
