  1. It means:  "My motivation kept me going"

    PS It's spelled "sentence", not "sentance"


  2. "Perpetuate" is misused. You perpetuate something that was not previously created at some point. In one sense you weren't, I realize, but the sense is more metaphorical than in your sentence (you might want to learn to spell "sentence," by the way.)
