I chose to read this book as I was intrigued by the extent that the characters were conditioned and socialised. This gave me greater insight into the way in which morals and views, put upon us as children can affect us throughout life; whether they are good or bad.

  1. It would be better if five areas are corrected and the two sentences re- written this way:

I chose to read this book as I was intrigued by the extent to which the characters were conditioned and socialised. This gave me greater insight into the way in which morals and views, whether good or bad and taught to us as children, could affect us throughout life.

Watch the use of commas and the use of the past tense 'could'. The phrase 'whether good or bad' refer to 'morals and views', not 'children' and should therefore be placed immediately after them, for better clarity.
