There was definitely a scared tone throughout the camp.

Ugh, I have to write 1000 more words within 2 weeks. I'm the only one in my school that probably started.

  1. The camp had a scared tone throughout it.

  2. No, that sounds weird. You should say

A feeling of alarm throughout the entire camp led everyone to think...[continue from here]

    Or something like that

  3. I might write that as, "A ripple of fear ran through the camp, strong and palpable."

  4. i agree with 'Peter J'

    that suggestion sounds better...........

  5. You haven't explained its context. If you're trying to write some form of story then maybe 'tense atmosphere' or tense mood'

  6. A scared tone ran throughout the camp...Just a suggestion.

  7. Just about.. I would say change scared to scary and ur good.

Or  you can say " There was definitely a scary tone that you could hear in all of the camp."

  8. i'd use:

The tone of fear and anxiety echoed throughout the camp.

...it's got one omre word than yours...

  9. sounds great to me!

  10. mm not

  11. "The mood throughout the camp was clearly frightening."

"THere was definitely a frightening feel throughout the camp."

    Scared tone sounds weird.

  12. mm...no. a 'tone' refers to the way a person is saying something, like:

"Would you shut up?" he said in an annoyed tone.

i think you're trying to say that the entire camp was feeling scared or something like that?

thesaurus.com gives really good synonyms, so you can just go there and type in 'feeling' and choose from the words they have

oh, and is this for creative writing? cause if not--like, you're writing an essay on a book--then you can't use the word 'definitely'. its more improper in essays.

  13. It sounds okay... but you may want to try: The camp gave a noticeable frightening feeling to anyone entering it.

Play with your words because I don't know if there is such thing as a "scared tone".

  14. back in the old school days, using numbers in a sentence was not accepted.  1000, for example, would be written out as one thousand.

also, that second sentence is awkward; 'that probably started'.  find a different way to write it.

  15. i guess

  16. It sounds a little on the strange side.

Try this:There was a scary feeling lingering throughout the camp.

i don't think "tone" would be the right word, maybe like feeling, mood, sense, or something like that. Try using a thesaurus. It makes writing things A LOT easier.

To make sure something sounds right I always read it aloud. When you read things in your mind only your eyes are focused on it, as well as part of your brain, but when you read it aloud your brain, your eyes, and your ears are all working together to make it sound its best.

Good for you!! getting started on something right away is fantastic, and it allows you more time to work on it to do the best you know you can. Good luck! :)

  17. Yes, it sounds right, and once you get going, 1000 words is a piece of cake

  18. Yeah it sounds Finee ;D

  19. "A scared tone" definitely sounds wrong. How can a tone be scared? It makes no sense at all. Perhaps an atmosphere of fear, a feeling of fear or the sound of fear, would be better.

  20. sounds good it shud b easy to rite with a sentence lik that!!!1

  21. Im not an English Teacher but it sounds fine (Y)

  22. Well, something my English professors always told me was that you can't tell if a sentence sounds weird or not with out the sentence before it and after. Because every sentence by itself has some stance. Honestly, it does sound a little weird, but i cant really give a suggestion as to what to have instead without knowing the sentences before and after.

  23. Try."There was a definate scared tone throughout the camp." it sounds a little better.
