Question:

Does this sound like a Finger infection?

I cut my finger on a piece of wood cleaning in April. It was bleeding for a long time but no stitches seemed to be required. I did however immediately go and get a tetanus shot.

Problem is just recently the site of the cut (which has healed) is very red and there is a large bump. There is no drainage or anything but it is somewhat painful.

I am getting married in 10 days and really don't want to have an infection running rampant through my body. Does this sound like an infection? Or maybe something is still under my skin? Should I go to the doctor and get it checked out or is that a waste of a doctors visit?

  1. Sounds like there is a sliver of wood still in there.

If you go to the doc, he can lance it and with small

pressure, it should expel the pus and the sliver at the

    same time.

Better a doctor's visit now than blood poisoning later.

  2. It was a very good idea that you went to get the shot. What does the bump look like? Does it look like a blister? If it does then you can sterilize a needle and drain the drainage then you can keep the area clean and use neosporin or NEO to go. Usually where something is really red and hot to the touch indicates infection. Does the bump itch or anything?
