  1. It would have to be a leaking water pump oil seal.

The crankcase (transmission & clutch) is separate from the cylinder, piston & rings on a 2 stroke engine.

So if the head gasket were to leak, the coolant would not get into the crankcase from the head gasket.

Since there is no oil in the top end (cylinder, piston & rings), oil would not get into the radiator through a leaking head gasket.

Coolant can get into the crankcase, through the water pump's oil seal.

Oil can get into the radiator, through the water pump's oil seal.

Go to - your bike - Water Pump

    # 12 is the oil seal

Change the water pump seal # 13 while you're in there - they don't last forever.

It's inexpensive, so you might as well change it while everything is apart.

  2. water pump might be leaking

  3. sdounds like head gasket to me, white smoke coming out the exhaust would be a dead give away

  4. Yes It Was

  5. Cracked head or barrel. The milky oil is oil contaminated by coolant, and it would have been blown into the coolant system by the compression of the engine.

Most of the coolant could have blown back out through the same crack when the piston was on a down stroke due to the greater pressure of the superheated (i.e. > 100C or 212F) steam.

The CR is a big, performance-oriented bike so it's probably overheated or even seized at some time in its life!

  6. it certainly does sound like a head gasket

  7. sounds like it..  but could also be the seal on the water pump..
