I've had a male kitten for about a month and a half to 2 months. He's very loving. About 3 weeks ago i got a female kitten around the same age for him to play with. They got along great until here recently. The last couple days my male has been acting really sad. Kind of even mad. Everytime my husband trys to pet him or anything he growls at him. And i mean growl. Its not a hiss. He doesn't really care for my husband to much anyway but he has never actually growled at him. He growled at me once last night when I walked away from him. My female cat on the other hand has been more loving and she usually isn't loving. She's usually more playful and she would usually rather play with herself or the other kitten than play with us. I haven't treated the male any different than i usually do. If anything i've been giving him more attention than usual because of the way he's been acting. He doesn't even purr anymore.Does it seem like he is jealous of the other kitten? Is there anything i can do

  1. He sounds like a sick kitten.  When a cats demeanor changes in such a negative way, it's usually illness. If he's growling when you move to touch him, it is an obvious sign of pain.  He needs to be evaluated by a vet.

  2. i think the male wants more attention or maybe they just like eachother it could be anything

  3. he could be jealous for sure.  or maybe he's feeling a little territorial or something.    it could be that he wants that female kitten for himself and see's your husband as a threat to their "relationship"  lol

  4. take him to the vet he may be sick or hire a whisperer person

  5. the cat could also be in heat and want outside and away from you
