I'm looking to buy a car from this man, and I was wondering if this sounds like a scam to you.

How safe is this? Any Advice?

Do you think I should use Propay to buy the car?

Thanks.

Hello,

If you are interested in my 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8L TURBO, it is

in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches,

dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 86,782 miles and the VIN # is

:3VWXX2XMXXXXXXXX. It has a clear title ready to be signed and

notarized on your name.

I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at :

The car is located Torrance, CA.

The price is $2,488 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental

US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. I am selling

the car because I am in the army, and my unit will be deployed to

Afghanistan in September.

The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we

will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so

I decided to use a service from ProPay. To begin the transaction I'll

need your full name and shipping address, I will forward the details of

our transaction to ProPay and then you will receive an invoice from

them. The car will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you

will have 5 days for inspection.

  1. Yes, sounds like a scam.  You need to see and test drive any car that you are interested in.  How is this 3rd party payment in your benefit?

  2. Sounds like a twist on the Nigerian bank scam.  Stay away.

  3. scam.

  4. SCAM definately.. usually things that have to be done fast.... and through  some crazy third party is a scam!

  5. You had better not buy it!!!

  6. THE INRODUCTION OF A 3RD PARTY TO THE TRANSACTION RAISES SOME FLAGS

  7. Tech guy and space person are correct, it is a scam, and one that has been around for a while.  You are warned, if you get suckered now you will have only yourself to blame.

  8. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a scam.  I bought my beautiful 2004 Audi A6 on eBay, and I'm extremely happy with it!  What's more, the shipping price was included in the price of the vehicle.  There are so many sources that you can use to confirm whether or not this is a scam, i.e., your local credit union, your bank, your local MVR department, Vehix.com,, etc.  I've never heard of ProPay, but you can always verify that service as well.  Look, the guy is giving you 5 days to inspect it and is shipping it insured!!

If you've never bought a car before and will be financing it, go to your bank or credit union, and ask for help!  You won't be misguided there!

  9. They tried to sell me the same car only it was located in a new your state town and they wanted me to do the same exact thing. I told them I needed a phone number and "she" said her husband was in the US army and they were deployed all over so they couldn't have a phone #.. WELL, I said EVERYBODY'S got a cell phone nowadays. What bothered me was the diction was not very good. I told them I'd have to be a total NITWIT to send money for a car, sight unseen and not know who's getting the money.

  10. yea it does sound like a scam just save up money and buy a new car instead

  11. whenever they say there gonna ship it to you its a scam, believe me.

wiring money (unless your on ebay or something) is normally a scam...

  12. see the car in person before you buy it seriously

  13. It sounds a little like this which I read recently.

Remember ,if it sounds too good to be true...it usually is!
