Question:

Does this sound like a transmission issue?

I have an 04' Honda Accord, about 2 days ago the check engine light came on and immediately after that it started to resist. Meaning, if I step on the gas, it wont just "take off", it starts to sputter. It works fine if you step on it slowly... Also, I took it on the freeway, just to see, and it was fine, but then when I hit 80 MPH, it wouldn't go any faster. Usually I can drive 90 and it's fine! It's not making any wierd noises, the A/C works fine, the oil was just changed... I just want an opinion so when I take it to the mechanic they don't try to LIE to me and tell me it's my transmission or something and have it just be like an air flow issue! They like to take advantage of chicks who don't know c**p about cars and all it's functions! Besides that, it's a Honda, and I am the orginal owner. It's never given me any problems.

Thanks!!!!

  1. go to auto zone and get them to scan it most likely it sounds like the cat converter or your air filter and you need to slow down or your car is not going to last long 100,000 miles-150,000 if that.

  2. Check the ends of the spark plug wires and make sure they're in secure on their connectors.  If they're not connected or just barely, you'll get the results you're having now.

  3. Check the spark plugs, which may be defective.

  4. My wife has a 96 honda accord and it seems to shift pretty hard and the engine light came on about 2 months ago for the 02 censor . I think you either have bad gas , fuel filter , tune up and maybe a fuel injection problem .

  5. sounds like all you need is a good tune-up dear. change the plugs and wires and if it,s got a distributor, change the rotor button and cap. that don,t sound like the transmission to me.you say it acts like it,s not taking gas?, change the gas filter, it might be clogging up with you.
