I'm doing my assignment for sociology (gender) and my subject is marketing toys and video games to boys and girls. I made my hypothesis like this does it sound ok?

"Through marketing of toys and video games children are influenced to take on their societies gender roles."

Is there another way of saying that another way? It doesn't feel very flowy to me!

Also I'm making a survey on it and i want to compare the thoughts of people with children to those that don''t have any children, do you guys think I should post it on yahoo, would you guys do it if i posted the survey and had people send it to my email? (my yahoo one which i don't use)

  1. well, it sounds all right to me. nyway, i think it's all right to post the survey. after all the  e-mail add you're goin to use is one that u dun use rite?

  2. use the possesive for of society, not the plural

  3. A good hypothesis should require a yes-no agreeable-disagreeable situation. The hypothesis should be arguable and testable. If you can't test it, then how will you be able to do your procedure? "Through marketing of toys and video games, children are influenced to take on their societies' gender roles," is a good hypothesis, because you are taking a side: the idea that children take gender roles through playthings. I think the procedure should be about taking a survey of a group of people, mostly children, not parents and non-parents. The experiment is about children, not adults; therefore, the subjects should be children: whether or not they feel that or react that toys affect them to behave a certain way (for example, some girls play with Barbie girls; some boys play with soldier dolls.)

For an accurate survey, I think you need to send the survey in person. That way, you know the subject is actually the subject you want. People can easily hide their age behind their computer screens. For example, I can easily say that my age is 88 years.
