One of the people I live with can't help increasing the volume of a certain TV program to a very loud and disturbing level because he can't understand the dialogue otherwise. He watches it with another person who doesn't really need the high volume to understand the dialogue, so I want to know whether or not there is such thing as a pair of wireless or wired earphones that permit the wearer to regulate the volume of TV programs, Movies, etc. to the person's preference while cancelling any other sound in his environment for less interference AND ALSO permit anyone else in the room who's not sporting earphones to listen normally to the TV.

  2. Hi, I'm a home theater specialist at Best Buy in Austin. It'd be better if I knew exactly which TV you had, but I can give you something general. Most TVs have only one headphone jack, so you'll need to buy a splitter. Run a "mini stereo cable" also called  "line out" cable from your headphone jack and run it into a seperate small device called an audio splitter, similar to a coupler, where one jack goes in and two jacks come out.

Now run noise cancellation headphones, also called studio headphones, from one of those two jacks, and on the other jack you'll need a separate speaker system. I recommend getting a $25 computer speaker 2.1 system which has a left and right channel plus a small subwoofer (these are actually better than the speakers that come with many TVs).

Of course, you can't adjust the volume of the 2.1 speakers without affecting the volume of the headphones, so I recommend buying a pair of headphones that have built in volume control.

    I hope this helps!
