  1. All experience is in the brain. Thoughts *are* experiences.

  2. Thoughts are experiences. There is nothing else.

  3. "As man thinks."

Thoughts naturally rise to the surface within human consciousness, born out of curiosity.

Human beings, have a natural desire to acquire knowledge.

It is through this acquired knowledge that humans beings acquire experience.

It is through knowledge and experience that humans beings acquire wisdom.

Wisdom in-turn enables human beings to regulate unwanted or undesired thoughts.

When these unwanted or undesired thoughts are brought under a human beings control, contentment and inner peace can be established within a human beings life.

    "Peace be always with you."

  4. You'll get a lot of interesting answers here....

Many believe (from a spiritual perspective) that thoughts held in mind create after their own kind - ie, what we focus on, we create. So if I believe in my own poverty, I will create it - if I believe in my success, I will create it.

It's basically law of attraction. If you were to watch The Secret or What the Bleep Do We Know, you would see people from all walks of life supporting this notion.

There's a book: The Tao of Physics that compares Eastern thought to Quantum Field Theory - (Capra) a fascinating read if you're into this.

There's another older book by Jane Roberts called The Nature of Personal Reality - a Seth Book. Deals in many ways with the same line of thought.

You have a great day yourself!

  5. Yes, I just had a former co-worker who wanted to get out of the bad job she had. I watched her make some changes to move to a new job. She was happy but the people around he were saying negative things. One friend of her's road over to the new place & came back & said "that place is a sweat shop". I forgot she told me that comment...so she worked her 2 weeks with the old place & started the new job...We are having a heat wave & she said she couldn't stay at the new job. "It was so hot the place is a sweat shop". That didn't sound like anything she would say but then she reminded me of one of her negative friends saying that to her. I told her since the job has so many good things she could just tell the new people that if she were to stay she needed a floor air conditioner, something to protect her fingers cause she had trouble with that, & some kind of radio or TV to keep her from going out of her mind. She wouldn't do any of these things & went back to the old place. The people at the old place all hate each other & wish they never succeed.....We attract experiences according to what we think & focus on but not 100% of the time. There is a part of life that we have made a contract to experience before we ever came here & I don't know if we can change those kinds of things. Most things are of our creation though. So if you want something that seems impossible just decide to focus on knowing you will have it & don't concern yourself with how you will get it. I have the intention to travel the world. I am in business now doing what I love & then my husband got a call from a place her applied for so long ago we forgot about it. I am seeing the money coming for our travels...So if you fear it or if you have faith in it you will see it in your experience...If you want to know what a person things look at what they have manifested in their life it is a reflection of their thoughts.

  6. No.  Thought creates perception.  They normally have to do with something related to the past or anticipation or preparation of the future.  Thoughts are not in the moment.  The mind cannot experience anything.  That would imply that it is a separate entity.

  7. Thoughts do indeed create experiences, but in a different way that physical events do. Despite their "not happening", thoughts do indeed create some sort of experience, and most often these are the experiences that truly matter (of course, phsyical and mental experiences are often combined and mixed into one, but ultimately, yes they do).

  8. Psychosis.

'Psychosis is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a "loss of contact with reality." People suffering from it are said to be psychotic.

People experiencing psychosis may report hallucinations or delusional beliefs, and may exhibit personality changes and disorganized thinking. This may be accompanied by unusual or bizarre behaviour, as well as difficulty with social interaction and impairment in carrying out the activities of daily living.'

  9. Just as MicahArt said, 'The Tao of Physics" is a great book that demonstrates how new fields of science are starting to prove many beliefs of eastern mysticism.  It is very interesting although some chapters on science can get a bit difficult to grasp.

At one time, science and religion were one in the same, but unfortunately split and went their separate ways.  Now it appears that they are once again merging.  "Down the rabbit hole" is an pretty awesome DVD that touches on this subject as well.

What we experience as reality is what is left over after our brain 'filters' all the inputs it receives (and most everything is filtered out).  Our thoughts affect what is filtered from the ultimate reality and therefore affect what we experience.

In other words, thoughts don't create experiences outside in the real world, but instead changes the brain to not filter out those things necessary to bring about the desired experience.

I guess that's the Law of Attraction the others mentioned.

  10. Experience create thoughts.

    xo

  11. I suppose so. I believe thoughts can change life experiences into things that haven't happened if you dwell on them long enough.

  12. Yes ; with utmost certainty !

  13. If I think purely pragmatically then I would say the each thought puts me in debt for action, that if I think about something then I must also do something about that thing. I would then believe that every thought must have its projection into the physical word of physical reality, or else, I might become overburdened by my ‘over-thinking’, or by the ineffective nature of too may of my thoughts. It is easy for me to think but it is not so easy to act, and it is easy for me to act thoughtlessly but it is not so easy for me to think and then act accordingly, and it is not easy either to objectively reflect upon what I have been doing.

The link between thinking and doing has been studied equally keenly both by psychologist and educationalists alike. The fact is that we learn most, and more effectively, when we learn by our experiences, i.e. when we learn by doing things. There is a well-known theory that educationists and trainer apply in their programmer of study. It is called Kolb’s theory of experiential learning, or Kolb’s learning cycle. The theory is comprised of a model for learning that suggests cycles of action and reflection, where each experience is reflected upon in terms of its mental as well as emotional outcomes, and then the cycle is repeated over any desired number of times until learning objective have been satisfactorily achieved.

I therefore do not think that thoughts create experiences, but experiences create thoughts once, as when we observe and reflect upon things that have just taken place. There for instance are no thoughts in the mind of a child, but thoughts start to form as a child experiences the world around. Besides, if thoughts were to be the ultimate originators of experience then all people would think alike, as being chemically made up of similar same human brain. The nature of our thoughts varies from person to person, and people who are properly educated in certain respects of life would think differently from the people who are educated in some other.

I think thoughts are like the interfaces of the pure mind on one side and the world at the other, the world where we rationally and consciously find ourselves placed. And when we do think ourselves into some sort of action, we actually think over things we borrow from our memorable experiences. In this sense then we recall, remember, and then experience things that we might have seen or done some times in the past.

There however is aspect to human mind that is not within the accurate grasps of our reason. I might call it transcendental or intuitive mind, the mind that is capable of creativity and through inspired by some state in existence beyond human comprehension.

If awareness lags behind reality then thoughts come from within that awareness, it has been proven now!

  14. great question dear.

the backbone of "the law of attraction" is a simple statement that says "thoughts become things".It goes far than creating an experience, even more far to the extent that thoughts can be converted into materials.

answering your Q....YES,thoughts generate feelings, intentions and later on actions.

  15. Yes they do when you put them into action.

  16. Thought arises from the experiences stored in the brain.

  17. I love this question, and I think you've received some great answers so far.  First of all, where do our thoughts come from?  From what I can tell, they come from us, and we are making decisions/choices/value judgements/etc. each moment of our lives.  We perceive our world through our five senses and conceptual thought. (If anybody can name any other ways, please let us hear about them. )  Descartes said his famous line, but what's often not said is that how we think and what we think determines the kind of life we lead, whether it's joyous or bitter or somewhere in between, but, from what I can tell, we do predicate our lives by the choices we make.  What's also often not said is that all thoughts are not created equal.  In the area of identifying things that we'd like to have in our lives, there's wanting something, and that's fairly low-level.  Then, there's desiring something...that's a much stronger form of wanting.   Then, there's intending for something to be, and that means we've made the decision to do whatever it takes to having it happen.  If we intend for something to happen, it probably will.  I hope this is useful, and I am having a great day!  I hope that you are too!

  18. Thoughts can be motivators, and motivation is the catalyst for experience.  Thoughts (memories) can create experiences in which we re-create the past, sometimes not for the better.  Highly creative and idealistic people have totally new thoughts in which they invent things and bring new realities into existence.

Every new thing begins as a thought.
