I'm 15 and they found me with high blood pressure(151/86 was my highest, and 124/79 the lowest) few weeks ago and ordered blood test to test my thyroids cause they had already done other blood work and scans of my head and chest in the ER a month ago. Well, i'm waiting for the results but if I DO have thyroid dysfunction would my throat hurt? Cause it never does.

  1. NO.  the thyroid is a gland that produces hormones that regulate various parts of your body's metabolism.  Unless you had a very large growth on it (called a goiter) it wouldn't hurt at all.

I have "thyroid dysfunction" and never any pain in my throat.  I take one pill everyday to give my body the hormone it needs to regulate metabolism.

Good luck!  I hope eveyrthin works out well for you.

  2. The thyroid is a gland located near your throat...

Sometimes thyroid glands have problems, which is why sometimes obese people can't lose weight because they have a thyroid problem.

It basically controls growth and a few other things.

If you have a thyroid dysfunction, it just means your thyroid is putting out too much/not enough of a certain hormone

    it wouldn't hurt.

  3. Your work up sounds like its looking for causes for overweight..if thats true..add that and re ask your question..if you arent overweight..could be anything..i know that is a high blood pressure for a kid..but no thyroids dont usually hurt..good luck
