Does tivo record without tape?

yes! TiVo is Awesome..i would definatly consider it ! you never have to worry about missing your fav show!!

Yes, it is a digital recorder, you must subscribe to a service. Most cable companies offer cheaper versions that are just as good

TiVo is a digital recorder. It saves your shows on the system. You can set the shows to "Keep until I delete" And they will NEVER erase! TiVo is tv magic! If you forgot to record a show and youre away from your house you can set your TiVo to record online!! You can download/rent  TV shows and movies from amazon.com to your TiVo. Its heaven. I highly recommend it over a "no name brand" one from your cable provider. Because most cable providers can't offer all of the services that TiVo gives.

Its not that expensive either, the cheapest TiVo box is $99. It will hold 80hrs worth of shows. You'll pay about $13 a month for the service. (not bad at all).  Go to the TiVo website, they have a very easy to understand video about how everything works. http://www.tivo.com
