  1. Gimmicks.

Look who gets over with fans...period. All of the "characters" on wrestling shows get over for the most part, and it's obvious in WWE. Look how many people complain about John Cena, but loved him as a rapper character.

  2. Obviously the superstar's gimmick..

That's why most fans of today are called marks..

  3. I like the gimmicks and charisma---which is why I'm kinda bored with wrestling these days cause there's a bunch of bots with no charisma and lame gimmicks.

  4. I think as a whole, people care more about gimmick/mic skills than actual wrestling work. People like the Rock, Steve Austin, HHH (who aren't really GREAT wrestlers) get the nod over the likes of say...Dean Malenko, Jushin Liger, Lance Storm (all good/great wrestlers) because of how their gimmick and mic skills play out.

I'm sure a lot of fans don't feel that way, but MOST of the ones I've encountered here seem to feel that way.

  5. ring work... but gimmick also plays an important part

  6. i like a combination of both in ring ability promo ability and gimmickk

wrestlers who are excellent in ring butdon'tt have the correctgimmickk or promo ability usually cant win other the fanswhichh cuts their fan base. examples are Benoit and Benjamin. Both incredible athletes but fail to sell any decent promos

Now if someone has great promo/gimmik work but fail to deliver in the ring usually leads to a overhyped boring match wich ends with chants "This is boring"  "You Cant Wrestle" Etc

so unless a wrestler has a combination of both im not Big Fan but still a fan nonetheless for the dedication to the business
